No but were going to the town my Dad grew up in 2 weeks where FD does chicken AND the Lions Club does grilled sweet corn. Not gonna lie I think the sweet corn has the edge over the chicken. We're hitting this tomorrow. Festival that it's at is "just too busy" on Fri or Sat (read that I know WAY too many people in that town and will get stuck there drinking beer until midnight)

I love volunteering FD open pit chicken like that.

Hampton and Randolph Minnesota FD does something similar the 3rd Saturday in August every year. We call it "Chickenfest". Been going for 30+ years. I can almost taste that picture!

The Gonzales, La. FD use to do a big Boston Butt smoke for July 4th every year. But they stopped doing it. Just kind of faded away when only a few dedicated firefighters wanted to keep it going. One year they smoked 650 boston butts over 4 days.

yeah the VFD around here don't do that. Why would they, most have bars that are better than any commercial one, bowling alleys in the basements among other things. The VFD in PA do this, one time I will time it right and attend.

The one I go to is a street dance with a live band and vendors. It's a full day, usually hot and humid, affair. If their is a rookie FF they are required to run through the crowd grin the firehouse to the (yes, only one) bar in town without being caught by the older guys. Get caught, take crap forever. Get through the crowd and everyone buys you drinks to the point the rookie isn't working for a week. . One of my favorite days of the year
