Can u add regular charcoal to a smoker?

What he said is good advise, chumney is my fav.
 
i cant get over how great the chimney works i am loving it to hell with lighter fluid at 6 bucks a bottle and way harder to light the coals, always having to put more fluid on and stiring the coals to get them to catch evenly the chimney is the bomb!!!!

Most of the time now I use the side burner on my gasser to light my chimney. When I use newspaper, I take a single double width page & roll it up diaagonally into a loose tube. I lay the tube around the edge of the bottom of the chimney like a doughnut. I repeat with a second sheet of newspaper so that I have two newspaper doughnuts pushed up in the bottom section. I light the paper in 3-4 places then place in on a charcoal grate sitting across a metal bucket. This draws fire & aire up into the middle of the chimney.
