ok.. I'm confused.. In the first pic I see ribs (corrugated) on the drums... Don't see them in the second pic... maybe it's an optical contusion (optical illusion).. and in the third pic (finished and painted) they look like they are extended (taller)... did you cut up a fourth barrel and add a section into each one fo them ?

They do look ribbed or corrugated but when I looked closer I think it's the way the paint is burning off. Not sure tho. But you are right, the completed ones are one section taller and maybe skinnier (optical illusion).

Ok guys the corrugation was the paint job on the drum before we started, That is the first pic where we burnt off the paint on the outside and whatever on the inside. Then they were all three sanded.  I took a second drum cut it about 1 inch belew the first ring to make the lid to the unit. I took two hammers and beat the 1 inch lip into the inside of the lid so when placed ontop of the other drum, the ring on the top lid, seats to the lip of the bottom drum for an air tight fit. Now they don't all work out that way as to why the one looks smaller than the other two. So I cut the lip of the bottom barrel off, and beat the 1 inch ring on the lid outward so it would fit over the top, of the of the bottom drum. The advantage for me was to increase my cooking area. I will take a couple of close ups tonight and forward them to you.

and yes they were different barrels. Thats why some of the lids you can fit to the inside of the bottom drum and some have to fit to the outside. You need to check that before you prim and paint. either they are amazing to cook on for what you have in them. Well worth the effort.

Ok guys here are a few pics of the lids. You can see on a couple, the 1nch flange fit to the inside of the drum and on one I had to put it to the outside, either way they both work great.

this last one here is the fit to the outside of the drum. The extra rig off the other drum just gives you more height to cook. I can put 6 beer can chickens on this top rack at one time.
