With the newest smoker returning from powder coat. The time had come to
build a new outdoor kitchen. I named it Barbequeatorium; "A seedy place
with good drink!"
Excavating and leveling the area. It was just dirt around the gardens.
Sort of graded but never leveled. The bricks make it look so nice.
Lots of time with the hand level and 8 foot striking level.
Mean while lots of smokers, grills and cooking things are waiting for their
new home to be completed. Especially my newest design, which is back from
powder coat.
While the cooking apparatus cools their heels I continue to work on their new
home. My wife helps with everything but the machine work and brick
lifting.
Moving a lot of dirt around for this new addition. I am going to have
to break out a bigger machine to speed excavation up a little. And I am
going to move the spoils pile so it is not in the way while laying the bricks
and moving around the rock.
As soon as I have the first 6 feet by 27 feet laid I get the newest design,
which just came back from powder coat, in place so it can rest a while on the
bricks.
After that short rest it is back to laying bricks and striking straight
lines.
The brick laying is heavy work, but I managed to squeeze in seasoning the new
reverse flow design, a spatchcocked chicken, and a pastrami while working on the
outdoor kitchen.
This is the long view, prior to installing the fencing. I think I kept
the lines pretty straight for a first time laying these big things.
I will keep you informed of the progress as we continue to build the
