LMAO!
If this thread would have had pictures about what was argued, there would have been much better communication and a lot less disagreement. This thread needs a break and some pictures. Instead of pulling out the butcher paper and crayons, how about this,,,

This all actually happened.

I am older, have been smoking meat for a good while now and I learned by observing all "those fancy useless processes" until I LEARNED how to do it. I am guessing "teaching moments" dont appeal to you Mr Crabby!

C cal1956 one reason why some details are.important.

I call my friends over to my house for some awesome brisket. I put the brisket in the smoker at 225° 6 hours before they arrive to eat. I go out in 5 hours and the IT is only 140° or even 150°. Somehow the magic gets lost in a couple more hours, a couple more brews all around. Everyone leaves hungry and I'm left embarrassed.

You are correct, smoking should be fun, it is also fairly easy, but some details matter.

Hell yes Edge, seeing is believing! I've been cooking and smoking meat over 50 years, been making bacon, sausage, and hams for over 20. Just from seeing those pictures I can appreciate the time and effort that went into each and every cook, which by the way look fabulous! Most of us give a written step-by-step accompanied by photos, no pics, it never really happened. What I've learned from this thread, which should have died some time back, is to not even waste the time reading the first paragraph if there isn't going to be any visual enhancement following. BTW Edge, gorgeous color on that yardbird! RAY

i don't know when i will smoke another brisket , but i do smoke Boston butts from time to time , so what i have decided to do in the interest of complete transparncy is the next time i smoke a boston butt,
i WILL take a photo of it as soon as i put rub on it then a picture of it when i put it in the smoker , then every hour on the hour till i pull it off , i will get the wife to take the pictures of me showing the time on my wrist watch in each picture ,
but i'm willing to bet even that will not quiet my critics

Probably not much point in that effort.
You have worked very hard at explaining your views.
1) Nobody on this forum cooks or smokes meat correctly.
2) Everyone on this forum makes the process much too difficult and involved.
3) your way is the best way.
4) your way may be the only way.
5) we all get it.
6) good grief already.
7) you are no fun.
8) you can’t take a joke.
9) our views are too involved and not up to your enlightened way of cooking.
It’s all good. I’d bet most of the active users here will scroll on by from now on. I know I will. And btw, this isn’t the first time you have pushed the forum with your out of the box methods. And yes you will get corrected again in the future.

There's also the easy way. If you hover your cursor over a members avatar a box will open with a few options, one of which is "Ignore". I tried it here, I believe I'll like the results in the future. RAY

There is a tip for no fuss no muss.
