I am getting a new smoker and want to do my first brisket but don't know where to buy one local supermarket or butcher shop where do you guys go thanks

Welcome
I usually go wherever I can find the best meat for the best deal. We have a US food store here which is a restaurant supply chain, grocery stores sometimes run specials, just be careful sometimes you pay for what you get don't buy discount meat thats brown or not looking right.

If you have a membership, check your local Costco and see if they carry Prime Packer Brisket. Unfortuntly here in the DC area they don't, but very good deal if yours does.

Wow..... A 11-12 lbbrisket here we are paying $100 for here.... I think I know what else I will be picking up down south!!!!!

Depending on where in NY you're located, check with Restaurant Depot or Gordon Food Service closest to you. They're likely to carry them. Some Wal-Marts, Sam's, and Costcos will also.

You'll likely pay a premium at the local butcher, but you're also supporting your local guy as well. Good luck.
