Been looking to upgrade my OKJ, to something with thicker metal and just a bigger overall smoker. Have my eye blue smoke smokers for a bit now but just haven't been able to cough up the couple grand for it and just not sure when I will if ever, lol.

Came a cross a older school Brinkmann on craigslist asking $350 or best offer. Pretty much identical to the one below listed in another post here on the forum.

I think it's a great price for the metal thickness, but don't like the left handed setup or the size. I'd also want to modify the stack like I did with my OKJ but that's not much work or very costly.

Having a hard time making a decision, it's about hr away.

I own one myself. It is a Brinkmann Cimarron. They take a little experimenting since is a smaller cook chamber (16 x 30) and at first you will get some despairingly large temp differences. However, if you do not mind the size it can put out very good brisket, pork butts or a rack or 2 of ribs. If you decide to get it, call Horizon Smokers and get a convection plate for it. You will have to adjust the plate off the firebox bulkhead somewhere between 1 - 3 " to get it "tuned in". Do that while cooking a small butt. I end up with 20 to 30 degree differences with splits. The stack is the original and it draws very well. I cook with the firebox door cracked open an inch or so and the vents on the door wide open. When I close the door all the way and leave the vents open it will run the cook chamber temp up quickly. A 1/4" offset this size sells for $1100-$1300 new.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated!

I think it's a nice little smoker, but I guess am at a point where buy once cry once. I want a larger smoker so I can cook for more than just my family of 5 and this is petty but I can't stand that dam FB on the left, lol. Again thanks for reply!

I have just the grill part (no fire box) - about 30 years old now. Love it. Use it for all high heat and direct heat smokes and grilling.

My one complaint was that mine did nit have a smoke-stack like the one in the link, but no smoke-stack makes it easy to buy a grill cover for.

I found a couple of pics of my very heavy (boiler-plate heavy!) Brinkman grill. Just this part will hold temps for 3 hours or so. No help with the firebox version - sorry.

You are very welcome. I also have an older, 3/16" thick Oklahoma Joe that is 20" W x 40" L with a 20" firebox for larger cooks. The smaller Cimarron is good for 2 racks of ribs flat, 3 if using a rib rack or two 8 pound pork butts or 1, 12 pound brisket or smaller. That said, the larger pit is easier to work with. The extra 4" on width and 10" on length do make a big difference. Keep checking Facebook Market and or Craigslist. I almost ordered a Shirley Patio since they are only 40 miles from me but I just could not justify another pit.
