I have my Brinkman Trailmaster Limited Edition getting delivered tomorrow. I am planning on doing the mod's that I found on this site. I have a couple of questions though.

1. I am planning on adding some thermometers near the grate. I am planning on mounting these through the door. What are some good thermometers for this?  Also, what size or length should I get?

2. I am also planning on getting or making a convection plate. If I buy a convection plate, where is a good place to get one from?  Also, are there any good instructions on how to make one?

3. Has anyone put a seal or gasket around the door?  If so what exactly did you use?

I'm planning on getting some high heat sealant to seal up all the bolts, screws and any other place that may leak. Is there anything else I should be looking at doing to make this a very sound smoker?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No one has any info?

The smoker is sitting in my garage and will be put together tomorrow. Any advice would be helpful.

I have a Trailmaster LE and I have mounted thermos on the door at grate level. I had to buy a 7/8 inch hole saw at lowes to drill the holes for the thermos, which I bought at Walmart, but so far they work just fine. I also put a 5/8 rope fireplace rope gasket around the top of the door since that was the only place mine leaked. I had to install it twice cos the glue they sold with it got hot and then rained on and came off. I ended up using high temp silicone to make it stick. Also sealed between the firebox and main chamber when I put it togeather and so far so good. As far as the convection plate I am in search of one myself. Horizon smokers sells one that looks like it will work but I am still in research mode on that one. Think I will give them a call soon. Right now I am using simple cookie sheets as tuning plates. Kinda getto, but it helps for now!
