If you have a local Burger King you could talk to the manager and ask if you could get an emply pickle container and lid. I have several and they are food grade. Just wash 'em out and good to go! Make sure the lid has the rubber gasket in it, also, if you push the top on, you'll need plyers to get it open, so I just lay it on top.

In the past I have used trash bags for brining. Make sure they are heavy duty and don't have any kind of powder in them.

A 5 gallon bucket would work fine as well but as flagriller said make sure you wash it well...

As long as your brine isnt acidic it should work. I do not believe that salt reacts with the aluminum.

well salt is extremely reactive w/ aluminum- but thats electrolysis & a whole different animal (boat stuff).since you fish- lol

I should have said in the culinary sense. Yes I have seen the destructive effects of saltwater on anythin and everything it touches.

I do love that salt water though. Was waist deep in it till late last night. Someone keeps trying to tell me I can't work 40 hours a week and fish 60. I do not know why not...

Flagriller... You have pond in the back yard?

Hia Vlap- I'd have to recommend you DON'T use trash bags. The factories where they are made are most likely not concerned with sanitary practices, being they are making trash bags. Also, I doubt they are a food grade material.

Good point rich...
I have used one before and it worked fine (actually best turkey I ever made) but that is something to consider for sure. My main concern with the trash bag is the powders they put in for odor control and such.

The 5 gallon bucket from home depot I think would be fine just give it a good washing.

If you wanted to be completely sure of safety you can goto a local restaurant supply store and purchase a Cambro 22qt plastic container. It should hold a decent turkey and brine.

there is a link to give you an idea. The cambros can be purchased in different sizes and shapes.

These are what you will find used in many restaurants.
