Bradley Digital Smoker

I have a stock Bradley digital smoker. Stock meaning it has the 500 watt heater element that came with it. Could I replace the 500 watt heater with a 900 watt one? Or should I just leave well enough alone. I live in the midwest and it will be getting cooler here and thought that might help me with the smoking. On my gas weber I cook all winter long. I have no problems with my smoker but I see a lot of people have problems with the heat.

Hi Arnie,
I also have a 4 rack digital that I purchased in 2012. I used it for a while stock, then later did the 900 watt mod. I added an Auber PID as the stock controller is near its capacity & may not hold up with the additional current draw. You could also use a 750 watt element that should be ok. I purchased the Auber SYL 2352 & 25 amp SSR, then built my own aluminum box to put it in. I think it was well worth the effort & cost.
As a side note I use an Amazen Tube for smoke that works fine & really saves on costs after the tube purchase.
