Just looking on some advice for a bottom attached firebox smoker. I have an 18 inch square fire box I built from 11 gauge steel. I want to build a 22x22x36 rectangle smoke chamber with a simple 45 45 90 cut out for the door. Would it be best to direct attach or drop it down and run a 6-8 inch stove pipe wrapped with insulation?

I'm looking to order the steel for my smoker build soon, Would 14 gauge work well or should i go straight for the 11 gauge?

How did your bottom build go...wanting to start a build myself and was thinking of doing a bottom build firebox also, any suggestions. Thanks!
