Hi everyone.
My name is Michael, although my family calls me Tommy(very long story). I'm 46 years old, and living on the east side of Houston. It's not the best side of Houston, but I'm actually very lucky that my little subdivision is old, established and I have great neighbors. I'm newly married, as of June 1st 2013, to the little sister of one of my best friends while growing up(another long story).
I'm actually rather new to bar-b-que and smoking meats. My father, God rest his soul, wasn't a grilled meat fan, so honestly, I don't think he ever cooked anything outdoors while I grew up. I love grilled meat, and now that I'm married, and we have a good house, I've started to explore my smoking and grilling adventure. BTW, she loves it when I cook outside, and I've spoiled her from ordering any grilled/smoked meat from restaurants, as she says mines better.
I have 3 different smoker/grills that I use, from store bought to home-made, and I am really starting to look for things that I can cook on them.
So, I'm finally here, to look over some shoulders, ask some stupid questions, and generally lurk about. I will pop my head every once in awhile, and then expect a flurry of questions before I retreat back into the shadows.
BTW, the profile picture I have, is of a turkey that I smoked on my homemade concrete culvert smoker. Yes, it's a concrete culvert like you would see under a driveway or in a ditch. And, it works great.
