Bison Burgers

I have been on a mission to find some Bison here in Hudson Fl. The local butcher had some,but he wanted $8.00 a pound for it. He also wanted me to buy a minimum of 28 pounds of the stuff. That comes to a grand total of $224. I just wanted to try the stuff,and see if I liked it or not. While shopping at Walmart today, I ran across some 1/3 pound bison burgers for $9.97 (2 pounds) I grilled one this morning and finally got to eat some. I must say that I was disappointed in the burger. I don't really know what I expected, but I could not tell the difference in that and ground beef. The box says 100% bison, so it's not beefalo. Anyone else ever try it? What did you think?

Dave, had them many many times, here in Iowa they are very different in texture and to an extent taste then beef. We all like em alot, however the price has gotten outa hand. Wantin some fer sausage and like you found they are now wantin 8 bucks a pound, told em ta keep it. Same with elk, near on to the same price. Crazy, I know they ain't mass produced like beef and pork, but geez, these prices aint even real!

We eat them alot and lov em!!! I get the ground buff out of Missoula Montana for like 3 bucks a pound and bring it back to IN every year. Wife mixes it was some ingredients and on the hot grill they go. Moist and wonderful.

That 3 bucks a pound was before the economy crash so im sure it is more now. Talked to the meat man yesterday and he was talking meat is double the price it was a month ago
