I just ordered a Weber iGrill 2 Thermometer, which comes with two probes, and I also ordered a Weber iGrill Pro Ambient Probe to go with it. What is the best way to test the probes for accuracy? I've always used the boiling water check for any of my analog thermometers, is that the best way and/or only way to check the accuracy? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yep...  boiling water....  correct for altitude.....

Thanks Dave! I didn't realize elevation mattered, but where I live being a little over 300 ft it looks like on the chart it should still be 212 degrees. Is there a way to check the lower temp accuracy or is it one of those things that if it's correct at the boiling point, then it's good? Sorry if I'm badgering, just want to get it right.

The top end is really all I care about being close, but if you want to ck the bottom temp, I would use plastic glass of ice water to get close.  You can put the glass in the freezer, then fill it with ice and pour some cold water from the frig.  Then just give it a good stir and it should be close to 32-34.  That is close enough for me.  I have one probe that will not read below 40 for some reason.

Yep, what they said.... I was going to post an elevation chart as well..  But was beat to it.

I check mine every couple of months.  My Thermapen is the most accurate and has not changed in 2 years.

My other (some knock off) is 6 degrees off and tends to very.

The gages on my cooking chamber are off by 10+ degrees at the boiling point!

Smoke ON!
