I agree this needs a little looking into!I belive they used to store foods in tin cans with dangerious welds. And seems it took years before FDA figgured that 1 out.

well to reheat the pulled pork all I do is put it in a glass microwavable dish, splash it with apple juice , throw a damp paper towel over it and heat.

Alright, I called Foodsaver----The reason they say not to boil the bags, is because they don't want the seem to come undone---sooooo I was wrong!!!

I do have some links that have influenced my thinking on plastics in general, and because of them, I am still skeptical about heating all plastics.

Hey Capt---To respond to your quote"the FDA isn't made up of senators and congressmen."

I do realize that senators and congressmen do not make up the FDA. I will try to post another link showing how the FDA is Lobbied by big corporations---I guess, what I am trying to say, without sounding paranoid, is that "Don't think big Government is trying to take care of you"----I can remember arguing with my parents in the car when they were both smoking cigarettes because they wouldn't let me open the window when it was cold outside---They had no idea it could be a bad thing for a little kid. Again, I admit I thought the temp limit on food saver bags was for safety, but the lady at foodsaver says no:-), so I was wrong---------

Steve, there has been something in the news lately about plastics, but I can not recall what it was. It had to do with heating up stuff in the microwave in plastic dishes I think, so you may not be totally wrong.

Hey LC, maybe it was this article on the FDA last friday?

There are lots of articles and stuff that suggest studies the FDA uses are paid for by the companies that make the products.

Here is one that suggests that the "American Plastics Council" has indirectly influenced the FDA........http://www.ewg.org/node/26202

Enough of this, I am off to shovel some new snow-------Hope I don't slip and fall injuring my self permanently causing adverse health problems----HAHAHA

Steve

I was a little worried about heating up my leftover featherbones the other day..

I brought them to work and was gonna bring in a crockpot, but didn't.

Me and the guys just nuked 'em. They may have tasted better doing it a different way, but they were still great.

I had the same problem with my parents. Even 40 yrs later the public has been warned and shown the hazards of smoking around kids, elderly, or others with health issues, but people still do it. Anyways thats a different subject. I am a non-smoker of everything cept foods.

I was thinking the 170 mark you talked about had to do with seal failure. I almost mentioned it last night. The bag itself won't melt at 170 or even 200-212. Even sandwich bags will stay in tact in boiling water. We make omlets in them all the time!

carefull shoveling snow Steve. We got an inch last night, but the bright sun has already done away with it today, just a few piles left around here, and the 45 degrees and sun on tomorrow will take care of them.

Gotta go rub up a couple briskees and a few butts for tomorrows smoke.

GO WINGS!

OK, I thought everyone knew about these!
