Folks I'm looking for the best type of mesh for a smoker build for the racks.
Been googling but can't find the name of the type used. It's probably got a specific use other than a BBQ which would lead me to it but I ain't sure :)
Thanks.

That's the stuff :) always easier build something when you know what you're looking for lol

It'll be mild steel so is there any trick or what do people do to stop rust?

You can season them like cast iron using flax seed oil. Coat them the into a 500 degree oven. Repeat 3-5 times. Then you'll be good to go.

Could I just use 304 stainless?
Irish weather doesn't lend itself to year round BBQ cooking so would be afraid rust over the year could be a problem.

niallam, I Just notices you are from Ireland, which made me think of Shepard's Pie, which made me think, "why not finish it off in the smoke, instead of the over? ". Hmmmm... Thanks for making that pop into my head!

You'll be good with Stainless , but a good 3/8th in. expanded metal with an angle iron border for strength (1/2in.) is cheaper an after curing , will beat any weather .

You'll be fine . . .

Have fun and . .

Pretty sure you need to tig stainless
