Have you heard of Treager industries? They make a pellet burning, auger driven smoker/grill. I am a beginner and I have been looking at one of theirs. They are pretty expensive, should I consider one of these? Maybe they are not expensive considering the equipment ya'll are using. What is a good way to start out?

Shoot .... There are people here using 25 yr old $50 smokers, all the way up to awsome custom rigs on trailers. There is no harm in starting with a very inexpensive unit. If you find you need more cooking room and want to move up in size, then you know what your preferences are and can maybe make a better decision.

But your question was about Treager ........ there are a couple of folks using them here and seem to be liked well!

Welcome to SMF, and there are a few Treager users arround. Maybe one will stop by and give you some insight on the unit. Personally I would start with unit I thought I felt comfortably with. Another thing to thik about is the availability of wood or what ever you choose to fire you smoker with. I'm a stickburner myself.

Welcome aboard. Do your research and choose the unit you feel most comfortable with. I recommend you use a smoking log for your first few smokes regardless of what unit you choose.
