I have a 23 pound beef shoulder clod. Would you smoke it whole or cut into smaller cuts? I would like to serve it sliced. What do you think?

23lbs is a whole lot of meat for slicing. Are you feeding a large group or are you freezing some for a later date? If freezing I would cut it into manageable sizes and freeze whole after smoking. If your plan is to feed a large group at once and your using a slicer then cut into pieces that will work with your slicer. If slicing by hand smoke it whole.

Just my thought.

Thanks for the input. I ended up smoking it whole. Turned out fantastic.

Good to hear AZ smoke.

I've been wanting to do up a big clod shoulder after reading about smittys in a BBQ book I have. They claim its better than brisket?

Hope to get to make one. Its just that its a lot of meat to eat up and I would have to go to or throw a big party for that.
