Since I am new at this, what is the appropriate ratio; cook vs. sauce?

Are you asking how much sauce you need per cook?
Well, that will vary according to how much meat you're saucing.

Now if you're hitting the sauce in your picture, your sex, height, weight, body fat, genetics and acquired tolerance will come into play.

If the cook can no longer stand at the BBQ, the cook has had too much sauce.

Now that the glass is empty, what's in the sauce? Looks good!

When I make sauce I usually make a big batch & put it in a large ketchup bottle. Use what I need & refrigerate the rest. It lasts for months in the fridge.

As I was about to toss out the ketchup bottles, I had the same idea! I'm preparing a socially distant BBQ lunch for three friends and this will give everyone their own bottle of sauce. Now, how to get the thick sauce into the bottles...

Cut the end off a funnel so the hole is much bigger, That’s what I do!
