I am new to bbqing and interested in getting a book or two for recipes and other things. Anyone have any suggestions?

for recipes and instructional stuff, I like Paul Kirk's "Championship Barbeque". Its about 460 pages and has over 570 sumtin recipes.

Lotsa of information, I think it is a must! its abou 19 bucks paperback.

Ended up getting "Legends of Texas BBQ" and "Peace Love and BBQ" plus a wireless meat thermometer from my parents for my bday. I think they are hinting at something.

I have had a couple failed attempts playing with the charcoal, last one ended with me shaking the ash off and having the charcoal pan fall off the legs. I now need to go find some legs that aren't galvanized to support the pan.

you will enjoy Peace,Love and BBQ Great book, I need to get the Legends of Texas BBQ, and as Capt Dan, Paul Kirks book is Great also, Have'nt found too many bad BBQ cook books, some just have a diff. twist on things

I agree on this book, by the way. I have gone through it a couple of times and have learned quite a bit. However, and nothing against Mr Kirk as he has paid his dues: I felt like I had to read his resume too many times throughout the book. Perhaps he felt like it was needed to support the title.

Decent book, very good theory, great recipes.
