So I was 3 hours in to an 8 hour cook and my dual probe controller went out again. This is the second time. I have food in the smoker for 50 people coming over tonight and now I have to plug the element straight in to the outlet and keep venting the heat by opening the door. Anyone else have problems with these controllers. I am wondering if I should just replace it with a PID setup. I am leaning more towards the PID setup. I have a basic understanding of the wiring but I would like to wire in two lights on the front panel for when the element is on and when a cooling fan is on. Anyone able to show me how to do this?

I'd contact Auberins and see what they say.

I'm on my second unit (the first one blew an internal fuse), so I now keep a few 20A. fuses on hand for just such an emergency. Haven't had to use any of them yet with the second one.

They are going to replace mine. Its frustrating because it will handle 1800 watts and im only running 1500. I am wondering if I run an auto-tune on the new one if it would put less stress on the unit. And I thought electric wouldnt have any problems.

Neely,
Where do you get your fuses at. Mine blew again and I cant find any place that carries 6 X 30mm.
I bought mine on ebay from a seller in China. Took about 3 weeks to get here, but it was the only place I could find any. The upside is that they were pretty inexpensive. Rat Shack was no help at all, and even Fry's Electronics didn't have them.
