Hey guys my name is Brian,  just signed up for the site! Don't currently have a smoker but I am looking to get one in the next few weeks and could use some advice. I have never smoked meat before and I could use some help. I am not sure what to start off with but I am doing so research so I can make an informed decision.

Welcome to the group Brian!  You've found a great place to share ideas on all things smoked, cured, grilled, etc.  There are plenty of good people here who really know their stuff and genuinely enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input around here, and good luck with your smoker search!  Don't know what kind of rig you have in mind (gas, electric, stick burner, charcoal, etc.), but browse the smoker forums, and ask questions.  Our members will surely help all they can.

Thanks, I haven't decided what kind I want yet. Debating between a UDS and a gas smoker.

Hey there Brian.....  I see you are from the Valley area.  Did you ever decide on what smoker you were getting?  I have the Masterbuilt Pro Dual Fuel that I got from the big box hardware store..($179 - so not much invested)..and so far I LOVE IT !!!... I have made a couple of modifications to it..but nothing too expensive... (in fact I have exactly 26 dollars in my mods !!! .

Anyway I live in the South Mountain area of Phoenix, and thought I would give you a shout and say hi... and hope you enjoy whatever smoker you get....and of course the great food that comes out of it!!!!
