Saw that Oakridge is calling it quits and am wondering if y'all know of any rubs that are similar to their Black Ops Brisket Rub. Thanks in advance for any helpful leads!

Take a look for Bearded Butchers. They have a Black option that I use a lot on steaks, should work quite well with brisket.

I am sorry about this, they were my primary rub supplier and real nice people.

Make your own:

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. shiitake mushroom powder
  • 2 Tbs. ground dark roast coffee
  • 1 Tbs. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbs. onion powder
  • 1 Tbs. smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbs. salt
  • 1 Tbs. coarse black pepper (12-14 mesh)
  • 1 tsp. chipotle chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cayenne
In a bowl, mix all ingredients together well. Use immediately by rubbing into the surface of the brisket. This goes great with burgers as well.

A guy fairly local to me makes this and it's the bomb as are all his rubs. He's written a book or two on bbq. I love this on any beef including burgers. Has the activated charcoal all the popular black rubs have and a lot of good savory spices. Also not overly heavy on salt lime many commercial rubs are. Priced well below what he could get. https://www.etsy.com/listing/760612960/nat-the-cat-dirt-rub-seasoning

Did you ever find a substitute or recipe for Black Ops rub?

Bearded butcher and HCC Black are completely different flavor profiles. Bearded has the coffee and molasses. HCC is an SPG with activated charcoal. So, depending on what type of rub Oak ridge was, one maybe might be closer. What was it like?
Since they are out of business, this is the ingredient list from the back of the bag. No charcoal.

Here's a Gordon Ramsey rub that is likely similar.
Coffee-ancho Chile Rub
  1. 1 tablespoon ancho chile powder.
  2. 2 tablespoons finely ground coffee or espresso.
  3. 2 teaspoons smoked paprika.
  4. 3 tablespoons brown sugar.
  5. 1 teaspoon mustard powder.
  6. 2 tablespoons aleppo pepper.
  7. 1 teaspoon dried ginger (could use less)
  8. 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.

That recipe sounds really good. Where did you get it?
