Pellet friends: I stumbled across this product. Looks like a good idea. Anyone try one and have an opinion?
The Grease Box

many thanks

To me, it looks to be a solution in search of a problem. I usually have a pan below what I'm cooking to catch the grease (can be turned into liquid gold to add back into the meat by skimming the fat off), so my grease bucket is mostly never hung on the cooker.

its a bit cost prohibitive too. $100 is a lifetime of foil.

The plus I see is, when the smoker is under the cover, occasionally the plug/cover I leave on the grease port has fallen off and made a mess.

Saw that some time ago. Decided to keep the $$ in my pocket.
Pooper goes in my garage after use. I have an under slung bucket so the wild (drunken?) dancing ain't going to kick it.
Only gathers grease when I cook ribs. Most other cooks hav a catch vessel.
If the pooper stayed outside, I would really think about it. But easier to pull the pail and drop in the garage or shed. In MN we only get regular raccoon traffic in the fall when they are trying to fatten for the winter.
Speaking of raccoons, we had one visit the campfire at the South Florida gathering. This MN boy has never seen such a skin and bones critter. I don't even think a good ole Kentucky cook would consider it for a pot of Burgoo.

Looks like a good idea.
I would agree . Not sure what it costs , but seems like a good add . The Weber's have a closed design with a pull out drawer that takes a foil pan .
Like said above I normally use a drip pan , but when I do need to clean it the drawer makes it easy . I would think this is a good add on .

I have an old metal pan that goes down first to catch odd drips when the wind blows. Then it's up to an empty gallon paint can to catch the grease. Put the lid on it when done.

Sometimes I'll forget to cap it off and the raccoons have a party. 🦝

I like the idea, but I'm being cheap. For the record, I have spilled my grease bucket a few times when installing or removing the cover so I could be tempted after a few beers...

My mind starts dividing by cooks . 4 = $25 a cook . Gets cheaper every time you use the grill , or don't have to clean a spill .
I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Traeger or Rec Tec buy the rights to that and have it on their smokers .

agreed. I might need to have one. I hate the grease drain dripping, even on the mat it makes a mess. Im sure the trex would stain real good with fat from a smoke too.
