have yall smoked new york strips, if so about what temp range and how, long, i thought i would place the steaks in my Black Jack smoker for about an hour, then toss them on the gas grill to finish, but didnt know if they would cook just on the smoker, thanks for any help

I've never done a NY strip on the smoker. It's such a great cut, I usually sear them on the grill.

However, I have done London Broil (flank or top round) steaks. Here's a thread that explains it. I sear first and then smoke if that helps. You could use that recipe or a variation.

As for temp, since a NY Strip is pretty lean, I wouldn't go much above 135 internal so as not to dry it out too much.

Whatever you decide, please let us know how it turns out.

^^^^^^ Do what he did, minus almost starting a fire.
