Another new guy

Hello,

I've been lurking on this forum for a bit and decided to join.  Places like this are great for me as I have to do a lot of improvising as I live in Africa.  Pretty much have to create everything you want in this area.  For example, I can't buy BBQ sauce so I have to make my own.  As is that isn't problem enough, Ketchup is $6-7 a bottle so I had to learn how to make ketchup from tomato paste so I can make BBQ sauce from that.  Recipes have to be modified because you can't buy corn syrup, etc.  As a result, I spend a lot of time looking for recipes and ideas.  This place looks like a good place to learn some more stuff.

First off Welcome Mzungua to SMF.  You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. My first question is are you in the military?? I would think about the exchange program we have here. It's where you gather some local goodies and we get some of the stuff that you need from the states. I did it with Jeremy thats in Italy and the Navy and we exchange some really cool stuff from each country. Now you might be able to get some of the stuff you need from the states.  Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.
