Please don't beat me up too bad about this one guys.. Just had to share this.

I got my smoker a few weeks ago (Brinkman smoke n pit) .. before that, I had a gas grill.

I couldn't smoke anything last night.. but I did grill some burgers. Even tho I didn't smoke it, it was the best tasting burger I've made in five long years. I'll NEVER go back to a gas grill

I guessing you used charcoal to grill the burgers in the S&P. If so you still got a good smoke flavor on the burgers that a gas grill can't match. I still use a gas grill for some applications but mostly because during the work week by the time I get home waiting for a charcoal fire isn't an option.

I have done burgers on a gas grill also, but do use some wood chips. Really not bad at all, but hard to match charcoal. I do it more for convenience when short of time.

I have 2 charcoal grills and 2 gas grills, and as you say you cant beat the charcoal flavor, hell left overs even taste better..

I charcoal grill everything, you just can't beat the taste. I did some earlier this week that were pretty darn good.

I use a marinade such as wickers or hog wash and work into the meat with my hands along with some sharp cheddar freshly shredded. Don't buy the preshredded stuff because they put a wax coating on it to keep it from sticking together. In my opinion, this compromises flavor. Patty those dudes up and let 'em rest for a few getting the meat closer to room temp. I like to slap another slice of cheese just before they are done to melt on top. THATS a good burger!

gas grill got one its in the house called a stove cook outside coal it is use it year round nottin better

I am a huge burger fan but lately have lost all taste for red meat. Ron50 has some great recipes for turkey burgers and turkey meatloaf that I will be trying in the very near future. A nice slice of tomato, bacon, raw onion, and an avocado, on an onion roll...pure heaven. I might even add some ground chix to the mix for an extra zip.

I also love a great burger, prolly why I grind my own meat.( I know not only whats in it but what I like for a burger) my lava rocks are so well seasoned in my gas grill the burgers come out great-and yes in the charcoil grills there great also. And after reading Rons threads on turkey I will deff. try real soon.I thinking a chicken turkey mix.

Personally i have never used a gas grill, but have eaten food from one. Have thought about getting one for convenience, but then it only takes 20 minutes for a chimney of charcoal to be ready. What to while waiting, hmmmmm beer time !!! Fireguy is right too, next day everything tastes better. In fact i prefer to eat my brats cold the next day.

Joe you ever tried pork patties. Being in iowa they are a real popular thing here. Seems like that's what most of the fundraiser dinners around here cook. Can normally get fresh 1/3lbers from meat counter for $1.00 each or cheaper. Not sure if you'll get them out there tho. Just a thought.
