Tri-Tip SALE again...woohoo! Still had three Tri-Tip roasts left in the freezer from the last sale at our WinCo. Those were $2.48/lb, then the price jumped back to their normal $5.60/lb. Missed an opportunity for more that time.
BUT...They were back on sale for $2.98/lb yesterday and today, and I had to jump. I only had room in my freezer for six more roasts and grabbed them before they jumped back in price again! I love cooking tri-tip via sous vide, and cold smoke them before going in the bath.
Normal price for TT around here ranges between $5/lb to $7.50/lb. Crazy compared to other areas where Tri-Tip is popular and bought regularly. Still getting to be known here in Oklahoma. So nine packed away now and great entertaining ahead!

Went by Winco today to get other things, and there were the tri tips. Choice grade, untrimmed, for $2.98/lb. Picked up two 4.5 lb'ers and two 3.9 lb'ers. Trimmed was $6.98/lb! I rarely trim off anything close to a lb, usually 8-10 oz max.

They be chilling in the freezer.

I've gotten to know the butcher at Winco here, and he will usually trim a lot of the fat off before packaging for me, so even a better deal!

Just finished cooking one of them sous vide to rare with a flamethrower bark. Tasted outstanding.

My wife will be so happy when I tell her we need another cooking device. But she comes around after eating something tastier than she has had before. I'm lucky she's a foodie too.
