Was flipping thru the tv channels last night and came across one of those home shopping shows. This show was called "Kitchen Designs" and featured cooking merchandise.

One of their main featured products was a Masterbuilt Electric Food Smoker with digital temp/ time controls......very nice looking unit. Was selling for $199.99

They had about 5 of these units set up outside and were cooking on all of them. Have purchased Masterbuilt products before and know they produce a quality product and I'm sure some of the members own these units. I guess my problem with their sale pitch was that they had each one loaded (and I mean Loaded) with food stuff for smoking....each one crammed with hams and turkeys and pans of Mac n Cheese and whatever they could throw in there that they thought you would like to see.....I must admit.....the food looked absolutely great....I mean really good!

To the average person who had never smoked anything before or who had very limited knowledge about smoking, they made it look and sound like all you had to do was load the food (as much as you wanted to cram in there).....add of few wood chips thru the side chip loader and then vertually "Set It and Forget It"....althought they did say you probably would have to add more chips occassionaly!!!!

Great commercial sell for Masterbuilt and I believe they sold hundreds of these. So with that said......hopefully we are going to have a whole bunch more people signing up to SMF after they get started smoking. So to all you members who so willingly answer all of our question when we have difficulties smoking......GET READY FOR A NEW HUGE WAVE COMING YOUR WAY!!! Can't conceive how many (including myself) people would give up this great art of smoking if not for guys like you!!! Thanks so much again!!!!!

Sounds like they gave a pretty good impression. I'm turning out some pretty good Q without doing much more than that. Maybe a little rub and knowing when to pull and foil

Yep,
I have found the MES pretty simple to use.
It only takes my time because I constantly worry :)

But, my last couple smokes, I have only needed to add wood every hour. Temps have stayed pretty steady with no intervention from me.

My son just bought a MES and had great success with his first smoke, salmon. I think I have him hooked on this smoking thing. I am also leading him to get involved in this site. So much great information and so many great folks.

So far so good with my new MES I got for Christmas. But I have to say I am already looking at other bigger and better units out there. I am hooked.

I tried to post a note and a link to here in the reviews section for their MES sale but they would not let the link go to post.
