Years ago I was on a crew that got stationed in a particular area for a week or 2, anw would then get moved someplace else. At the time, cheap imported hibachis were available everywhere, and we took one with us. After work, we'd fire it up and do burgers, steaks, kebobs, pork chops, and even sea food. I forgot all about them, and how good that food always tasted.
The other day, I was at Cabela's, and ran across a Lodge cast iron hibachi and got that blast from the past, nostalgic good memory palm to head.
Has anyone tried the Lodge, or anything else like it recently ?
I need another piece of cooking gear like I need another hole in my head, but I am thinking about indulging my sickness again.
Your thoughts on a hibachi ?

I just last weekend acquired a Weber smokey joe from Facebook market place..the price $5, that's right $5!!! We were going to watch fireworks and I said to the wife it would be nice to tailgate rather than just take lunch meat sandwiches. She found that grill and we had sausage sandwiches, peppers and onions. It did a nice job and I was able to cook 8 roll sized sausage links and a foil packet with the peppers/onions all at one time. As I tell my girls all the time... "GO MEAT!!"

Good memories! My first bbq. I've been thinking also! (dangerous!) He need something small for when I cook for just the two of us.
Have heard good things about the Lodge. Love their pans.

I think a hibachi would be a great addition to the Q collection. I've thought about getting one several times.

Let us know how it goes. I am still feeling the hit from buying a pellet smoker last month, but I think a hibachi is an itch that will need to be scratched soon, lol.

I would love to get a back yard Hibachi, Santa Maria grill, or a barrel smoker. Wife already says I have too much backyard cooking equipment but with the recent loss of my Dyna-glo, I may be able to maneuver another cooker... :)

It s a sickness many of us share. I hope there is never a cure.

I have a Lodge hibachi that I found in very rusty condition. I sandblasted it and re-seasoned it a couple of times. It is now my go-to grill when I just need to do a couple of burgers, steaks or kebabs. It is stingy on charcoal - I have one of the small size chimneys and a 3/4 load of briquets is plenty for most cooks. My Weber mini kettle has seen almost no love since I put the hibachi on line.

I have a Weber Go Anywhere Grill, around $50. It is rectangular and the perfect size for Kabobs. I could fit 8 skewers, enough to get my crew started...JJ
