That other roofer just looked at he cant believe that they did not cover it. Says it is hammered. I giving my current guy one week than turning it over to this other guy. He just got house 2 doors down done with same deal using a public appraiser.

Oh my god I hate insurance companies! Several years ago a drunk driver drove through our house when he was running from the fricken cops. Long story short, about once a week I paid the insurance guys a visit. Every single time it turned into me getting so pissed and basically threatening them with lawyers and then they would quit screwing me around for that week. Maddest I got I told the one guy I was gonna drag him out of his office and beat his ass. I was reaching across his desk to make good on my offer when he finally agreed to whatever it was that week. After everything was repaired (11 months later) the grand total was right at $280,000.
I really hate insurance people!

And the fight conitues. They turned down the claim for other half of roof and shed. Adjuster said claim is permanently closed. I am getting the other roofer now to see if they can get anywhere.

That really sucks Brian. You pay your premiums all these years & when you need help they screw you. It is bad enough to go thru a storm & have damage, but to have to fight with the ins co. too, is just what we went thru and it takes a toll on your physical & mental health. I can only say to hang in there & if needed hire an attorney that specializes in insurance claims. They don’t get any $ upfront, and a couple of people used them here & got immediate results. I think one of them used Morgan & Morgan. I’m pretty sure they are all over the country, you may want to give them a call. Good luck Bro!!

I think you said they direct deposited the original claim money ? Never heard of it being done that way . I get issued a check , but don't sign / cash it until the work is completed .
I would think if you accepted the money direct deposit , it's considered closed .
Get a copy of the policy , and seek advise from a lawyer .

My new roofer has made some progress. He is the son of a friend. They got close and are going to just eat the rest of the cost. Depending on how much it is I may split the difference. I am so done with Allstate after this. Allstate messed up on figuring the sq ft of siding by 100 but it impossible to get them to do anything. I pick the color for the shingles and they ordering it. Should get started soon.

Glad you are finally making progress, I am in the middle of similar now Brian, except inside. Found a upstairs toilet supply line (braided) was leaking for a few months. It was running down the side of the pipe straight through the tile floor, no puddles on the floor. Found water 2 floors below in the basement and the bathroom below had a funny smell for a few weeks. Finally the soffits inside started bubbling and water running down the sheet rock as well as outside siding. For the last month ServPro has been ripping out the lower bathroom and half the kitchen. They pull the lower kitchen cabinet and found mold on the back of it, now it is on my front porch.

Have not heard from the ins adjuster yet on the rebuild amount, my real question is, there will be no way to match the replacement lower cabinet just due to aging of the wood. Would they pay to replace all the cabinets in the rest of the kitchen?

Best of luck. I should of got a public appraiser involved a long time ago. Live and learn. We close enough now not going to worry about it. They not doing the shop but at this point throwing in the towel.
