Tonight i tried Jeff's recipe for ABTs aka Jalapeno Poppers, but instead of wrapping in bacon. i put a slice of cooked crisp bacon on top of the cheese and wrapped them in Crescent roll dough. This was a test to see if they would be good for a party we are having this Saturday. I had 5 good Jalapenos from my dying garden. They turned out very good, but the bacon was a mistake, no flavor added. I think next time i will use Little Smokies instead of bacon, or perhaps a piece of hot dog. I tried one using a regular crescent roll dough triangle, it didn't cover as well as wrapping in dough strips. i will continue to cut the dough into strips. Also thought of having a dip available, but not sure what type. Any recommendations? They are filling, if using as an appetizer, perhaps only 2 or 3 per person. 4 or 5 would make a meal with some slaw. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts.

Sorry, forgot to take pics. One thing I forgot, add 2 dashed of smoke flavoring to cheese batter. And greese the pan you cook them in. Mine stuck. I did in the oven because it is raining. Crescent package said 375 8 to 12 minutes. I baked at 350 for 16 Minutes.

I appreciate your thinking to upscale an ABT.
I shudder at the thought of crescent dough. Made a something meat wrapped in crescent dough 40 years ago and got a nasty case of food poisoning. Meat was fine as it was sampled prior. Not used any dough in a tube since.
I make bagel wrapped hot dogs a few times a year. The bagel dough is made from scratch.
I wonder if I could use a cored and stuffed jalapeno in the center and have it survive the water boil before baking?

Looks good to me . Nice change up in my opinion . They also sell a " corn dog " wrapper . I bet those would be good too .

Definitely use little smokies. Not enough flavour in h/dogs. Covering in the biscuit dough is sorta normal (think of
