We finally bought a place where we are going to settle down forever! We have moved far too many times over the last couple of years in preparation for buying our retirement home and, we did it!

My job brought me to Duluth, GA and we started out here in an apartment. Trust me, nothing makes you want to move like living in an apartment (should be called a togetherment) under/beside someone else! The constant noise, traffic and people who refuse to clean up after their pets is enough to drive a person like me insane!

After four months of living in the apartment complex, we found our place! It is a 2100 sf 4BR/3BA home on 11 acres with a 2 car detached, a barn and a shop! We love it!

Next up, a smoker I will buy for family use, and a smoker I will build that will handle the larger smokes for the church!

Awesome looking place with acreage too!!!! Do you still have to commute back into Atlanta (that is one of the worst commutes on the planet)?

I used to work with a guy who when you asked him where he wanted to retire to, he would reply "150 miles". The expanded answer was "anywhere that is at least 150 miles away from Atlanta". He retired and is still working in the metro area at a new job (same as me 5 years to go for retirement #2).

The nature of my job allows me to work from home more often than not. In the last two weeks I have been in my Duluth office, but I was also in Greenville, SC at our office up there, so...I don't commute too often. That said, I was in Thomaston last week as well, so...you never know!

Your retirement home looks picture perfect. Secluded and well maintained. Enjoy...I'm jealous.

Chris.

Sorry about the high-jacking of your thread, but my daughter works in Athens and her husband works in Atlanta. They're looking for a home somewhere in the middle. Any recommendations on a clean, safe town/city in between the two? Currently they live in Covington(sp?).

Thanks one and all! I forgot to mention that we also have 5 head of Black Angus roaming around our 'front yard'. :) Yes, that's 10 briskets and so much more!

Are you allowed to harvest deer at your property ??? If so, you must be sorta like in heaven before you expire ...

It's GA. Try and plant a garden and the deer will come. Should be no reason they can't be harvested up there, and right now is the season.

Sounds great! Hope you get the smoker situation taken care of soon so we get pics.
Lol Congrats..
Just one thing, I see that there is a big Asian population there. Good for your shopping and dinner menu.. I also see that in 1990 there were about 9,500 people in Deluth and now they say about 29,000 people. Wonder what they did to draw So many so fast?

Lol Good luck and be safe..

Indeed we are! No license, just a harvest record and we can tag up to 12!

This is the view from the hay loft (a wonderful hunting blind)...
