A great smoker otherwise. About a dozen smokes, and this is what both probes now read at ambient. Yeah, I'll be calling for some new ones :emoji_angry:

Yep probes fail and need to be replaced from time to time. All sorts of reasons cause it........water on the braids, cables that have been bent over and over, temps higher than probes are rated for, and heck sometime you get a bad one to start with. Gotta keep an eye on them and look for warning signs of failure.........with all that said make sure to double check the probe you are using to check your "failed probes"
 
I had one on my CC throw the error code. I emailed them and had a new one for free a week later.

Backups are definitely a must for me. Have a couple extra CC probes, extra probes for the wireless and 2 hand-helds. I also cleaning the chamber probe every smoke or two.
