Too bad IMHO, they would not do a celebration version with a reasonable price for folks! Folks that have backed them for years and the reason why the company is successful… A lot of us have Weber products and promote them here on SMF… I am quite confident they could have made a nice celebratory grill without an insane price tag and still made a profit! If priced right, they likely would have made new customers too! Just my 2 cents….

I'm not even fond of the colors they chose. The turquoise is sort of retro-50's, the yellow reminds me of "harvest gold" kitchen appliances of the 70's...the other two don't even seem old. Or maybe that wasn't what they were going for?

Not for me. I don't like the ash catcher. I prefer the disc that's on the basic kettle.

Chris

The ash catcher on these new ones is what attracted me.
The enclosed ash catcher is a huge plus for those of us out west where one teeny- tiny spark can cause a wild fire.

I fully understand that, and I'm glad that's not an issue in the North East. I'm currently gathering up all our scrap wood, downed branches and other miscellaneous combustibles for our bi-annual bonfire.

Cool!
Back in my younger days, we would have weekend desert parties during the winter and have huge bonfires along with other "festivities".

You can get the newer enclosed ash catcher on other kettles w/o the high $ for the 70th badging.

Yep, that is for sure. When I picked my new kettle back in December, I made sure it was the premium model with the enclosed ash catcher.
Plus, the copper color matches the gasser, which was one of stipulations laid down down by Mrs. SHS.

I bet my wife couldn't even tell ya what color my Webers are. She only cares about what comes off them.
