Anyone have any opinions on this boat? He wants $9500 which is kind of high and has a 50 HP mercury which is kind of small. Lake Texoma is a pretty big lake. It does have a GPS trolling motor which is a plus.

Seems like a good deal to me. Used boat prices are outrageous. I think you will always almost be able to get your money back out of it if in good shape

Looks like the ad was deleted. I don't know much (read anything about boats) but how much to upgrade to 100hp? Might be worth it.

Don’t know a thing about boats, other than the best ones float. But are you aware that guys with 5 year old diesel trucks are being offered more now than they payed then. Up here anyway. Markets are nuts right now. Not a buyer’s market for most anything, at all.

The horsepower rating for a boat is calculated using federal guidelines so that boat may not be rated for a bigger motor. https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2002-title33-vol2/xml/CFR-2002-title33-vol2-sec183-53.xml

Finding an outboard these days is almost like finding hen's teeth. With the chip shortage as well as material shortages, the motors that are making it off of the assembly lines are destined for new transoms/boats.

As others have stated, the market for trucks, boats, RVs, etc., new and used, is absolutely on fire with people willing to pay a premium to buy these toys.

Rated up to 75. Found some people that said the 50 with more than one person really slows down.

It sold. Was a nice boat but really needed a bigger engine. Keep looking. Thanks
A 50 HP 4 stroke on that boat is plenty of engine but a 60HP 2 stroke would be better yet, they are the same block so the weight would be very close if not the same. I hunt with a guy that has a 1752 Cressliner Semi Mod Vee and a 50hp honda engine. It pushes the boat 37mph with 2 big dudes a 80lb dog and our guns, gear and 6 dozen decoys.
With 3 big dudes, 2 big dogs 3 guns and our blind bags, no decoys 34 mph in a 2' chop. We won't win any races but the boat isn't a slug either, it jumps right up on pad even with the heavier load. The problem is you have to run it at about 90% power all the time, which doesn't leave anything in case you need to punch through some grass or wind waves or out run the wind blowing across the bay. So he put a 60hp on it a few yrs later, the 2 stroke 60 Merc. was perfect for that 17'er. It runs 40-42 mph and the low end power and torque is way nicer than the 50 Honda was, and you don't have to keep it in the power band 100% of the time.

Anyhow, I just wanted to give you some real world numbers for both the 50 and the 60 HP on a 1752 hull.
The 50 was fine though for 3-5 yrs and is sipped fuel. The 60hp 2 stroke drinks fuel and oil, but it a lot funner running it because it has a little extra power just in case you need it in a pinch.
But a 4 stroke 50 on that 16'er wouldn't be a bad match at all. Unless you plan on breaking ice in it during waterfowl season.

Not with a 4 stroke it won't, 2 stroke yes it will bog with too much beef in it. Sounds like they were running a speed prop which sucks for load carrying. A good S.S 4 blade prop, and they hardly bog down at all from a med load to a heavy load.

Here's one (below) that Bear Jr just got last week.
I know very little about it. He knows them pretty good.
All I know is it's 17 1/2', and has a 90/60 Evinrude Jet Motor on it.
His boats are all strictly for fishing. This one will be mainly for the Delaware River, which is why the "Jet" Motor (Very Rocky).
