Was at Home Depot the other day and ran across a double basket propane fryer. We don't eat a lot of fried foods but thought this would be nice to addition to the arsenal to do wings and fries and stuff for a lot of people. So I picked it up. Wife just shook her head.
Kept thinking last week of what I wanted to cook for the super bowl so after I found the fryer I knew it was going to be wings. Bought 5 packs weighing 4-5 pounds a piece for $1.99 lb and a 5 lb bag of russet potatoes. Didn't get a ton of pics but figured I would share what I had.
Saturday I invited the brother in laws over and we drank a few cold ones and cut all the wings up into drums and flats.
Here I am supervising.
All finished up here. 20+ pounds of wings cut up and ready for a rest in the fridge overnight.
The next day got them all breaded up. Used a plastic cake carrier turned upside down. Worked pretty well.
Here is the double basket fryer in action. Took about 1.5 gallons of peanut oil.
First batch of wings out. Nice golden color with a nice crunch.
One of the pans.
Between cooking, the game going on, and family and friends over I only managed to get one plated shot. Tossed these in some parmesan garlic and plated with some hand cut fries.
Had some crock pot meatballs covered in Jack Daniels glaze and some rotel dip and tortilla chips to munch on as well. Now I love smoked and grilled wings but there is just something about a nice crunchy wing. I made a reaper wing sauce and we had a few other kinds as well. Let everyone toss theirs in whatever they wanted. All in all was a good time with good food. Great super bowl was happy to see Andy Reid finally get his SB ring. Thanks for checking it out.
