Hoping and praying for the pilots, 4 chutes were seen….still waiting to hear!

crazy we were going to go to this but the boy had to work today some of the craziest footage if seen!

I was just reading about that. My parents used to take me to the Mountain Home air show when I was a kid-I loved it.

Hope the ejections were injury-free, or close to it. My understanding is you get beat up a bit even when everything goes perfectly.

Some outlets are now reporting they found the pilots safe, so positive news!

We took an our kids when they were smaller….i remember they had a F117 viewable from a distance with armed MPs stationed around it….it made an impression!

2 are being treated on base. Another was sent to an outside hospital for treatment. I haven't heard about the 4th.

2 were pilots. The other two were Weapons Systems Officers.

I know a guy that had to eject on two different occasions, both in battle.
The second time destroyed his spine in a big way. He can still walk, but not very well. I thought my spine was a mess until I saw his X-rays. The poor guy has more metal in him than you could imagine.

He said one of the most violent things a pilot can live though is an ejection.

The ejection rockets on their seats aren't very forgiving. His spine was completely compressed, from top to bottom.

Hope they recover well! The on call Red Bull event back Dr. is just up the road so if it’s back issues hope he is helping, he replaced 4 discs in my wife…. And he did 12 in a rodeo guy

Hope all goes well for all 4 of them!

I know my wife couldn't even lay down or sleep as 4 of her discs were so compressed that one was self fusing…. The Dr had to split the vert apart and spent 4 hours grinding and removing enough to get a replacement disc in…. Aside from a scar on her neck you would never know she has a titanium neck, oh and she is taller now by a 1/2 inch!

My back is loaded with steel, but the outcome wasn't nearly as well as your wife's sounds.
I'm in constant pain because I refuse to take narcotic pain meds. (by choice) I hated how they made me feel, I take aspirin and Tylenol, as needed.

I met the man I'm talking about at Costco, he was trying to load a big picnic table set into his truck by himself. So I helped him, as I could see that he had a bad back, he told me about how he got it, and had pictures in his phone to prove it. A few weeks later I was working on my truck in my driveway, and he pulls up in front of my driveway, and says he saw me and that he lives a block away. I hand him a beer, and he jumps right in helping me swap out the shocks on my truck without asking. As we were working on my truck we started talking about food, his wife passed away a few yrs ago, and he doesn't cook, so I bring him food every so often still. We have become good friends, he lives right around the corner from me. We stop by each other's house when one of us are outside working on something. He always talks about how sketchy aircraft carrier landing were, his words,
"the pucker factor is so tight, that it hurts your ass muscles for a few days"!!! :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing:

Not really relevant to the thread, but this reminds me that access to southern Idaho's spectacular Bruneau Canyon overlook:

Requires one to drive through Mountain Home AFB's Saylor Creek Bombing range. This sign tends to get your attention.

A previous company I worked for designed/prepared the plans to build targets, ie buildings, runways, roads, utilities, etc...... then they would go survey "map" the results after such "objects" that "fell" from aircraft.... It was a good gig while it lasted....

Military mid air collisions are very horrible and usually unfortunately pilot error.
I hope they recover.

We had this discussion a few years ago.
In my previous company we (electrical, mechanical, chemical, & materials) made ordinance and civils made targets. Your bullseye round about sticks in my mind.

Ah yes, this one.......I still believe it's the only roundabout in the country that's interlay on a bridge....If anyone knows of another, please share.....
