Out back I have a WSM charcoal smoker, a Landmann GOSM propane smoker and a Weber Spirit propane grill. I've been giving thought to simplifying and reducing down to 1 new unit that can both smoke and grill.

I've seen a few videos online where people are grilling and smoking with a Performer, and using a Slow and Sear with half the charcoal a WSM would use. That interests me. My cooks are usually small since I'm cooking for 2 so a single grate should work 98% of the time.

Anybody navigated this decision before and have any insight to add? Anything to consider? I know my grilling would change to have to give a little more time for the charcoal to get ready.

I am contemplating getting this unit, one that TulsaJeff owns himself and highly recommends. It requires electricity and propane; the former for the pellet auger and the latter for the griller; both of which I have available, and is at a decent price for a premium multi-function unit; the quality is excellent!

I use my kettle to grill and smoke with all the time. If I had to choose between a kettle or a WSM, I’d easily choose a kettle. I’d go with a 26” kettle though. I’d like the extra real estate, cooking for 4 plus some extra food for lunches for a couple of days.

Ditto on smoking on the Weber kettle though the Char-Griller Akorn would definitely be worthwhile look.I am looking at them,3 bills for the nice cart model is hard to beat for such a versatile unit.lemans just got a used one for a song and has a thread going right now that will be interesting.

I've been drooling over Yoder Grills for quite a while now. Just can't justify spending the money.

I replaced my Weber kettle with a performer last summer. (Sold it to a guy who now has three kettles!) Versatility is about the same, but I love the extra work space.
Junked my propane grill a long time ago.
