I plan to do a packer brisket on my new YS640S this weekend and want to do burnt ends with the point. Since I have a lot of different things that I'll be smoking for a 6pm dinner time on Saturday, I was thinking of smoking the brisket over-night (starting Friday night), and resting in the...
Thanks for all the replies. Support confirmed that I need a new hopper fan, but it doesn't look like they're sending me a complimentary one. Went and bought a YS640S this weekend. I'm so excited to load that 350 lbs beast up this weekend, I almost can't stand it.
Good luck to those...
Thanks for the quick replies. ostrichsak, I appreciate your response, although it does make me a little discouraged.
RichardFoster, I mainly use CookinPellets mixed pellets, because those seem to get good ratings. I've never had a problem with them bridging before now, so I'm not sure it's...
My wife bought me a Daniel Boone back in 2015 because they were considered one of the better pellet smokers. This model came with WIFI, which I didn't think was a big deal until I used it. It's definitely a nice add-on, but has never really worked well on mine, even with good strong wifi...
The only thing I don't really like about my GMG Daniel Boone pellet smoker is cleaning off the cast iron grease tray. Maple syrup drippings in particular can become so melded onto the tray that I can't even scrape it off with a steel putty knife. I tried laying some foil on it the last time I...
Thanks for the responses guys. I threw them in at 8 this morning. Hoping to eat at 4pm. Unless i hit a nasty stall, it should be okay. I'll probably be foiling them to push them through.
Thanks again!
A buddy of mine bought a 7 lbs butt at a local butcher that he has asked me to smoke. When I got it out to look at it tonight, it's actually two pieces of butt. One is about 4 lbs and the other 3 lbs. They're fairly wide and long, but only about 3" thick. He wants pulled pork, so I'll...
I've had my GMG Daniel Boone model for less than a year, and used it multiple times. Yesterday's smoke I saw a huge variance in temps. The smoker was set to 225 with a 6 lbs pork butt put in at 8am. When I got home from church at noon and checked the Maverick remote, it said it was 280* in...
How long will this sauce keep? I made some at Easter and have half-a-bottle left, which has been sitting in the fridge ever since. Think it's still good enough to use?
Mike:
I've found that temp regulation is the most frustrating thing with these MB propane models. If yours is like mine, there's some play in the control knob, which makes it hard to know where to set the dial to hit that sweet spot that you're looking for. Outside temp plays a role in this...
I've been using sand in my water pan since sometime last year. I cover it with HD foil, and Sunday, while I was throwing out the foil that was covering it for the smoke, and replacing it with new, I noticed that the sand was a little hard in places. I've been just leaving the same sand in the...
For all of you Maverick ET-732 / Masterbuilt Vertical smoker users:
I'm interested to hear where people are clipping the temp probe for the smoker itself. I've tried several positions, but seem to get the most accurate readings clipping it underneath the center of the top rack. That rack...
Seeing some posts lately made me wonder about whether it's better to cut up larger pork butts - like the 10 pounder I did for the SB - into smaller butts - maybe 5 lbs, or less? Or is it better to smoke the larger butt? Any opinions?
I've got the propane model. It only has one door, not double like motokid's, but otherwise the same type. That's the same thing my instructions say: "Never use wood chunks."
