MES 40 rebuild - back insulation replacement?

Pulled the trigger on a 48"x24"x1" Pre-Cut Ceramic Insulation 8lb 2300F - between this and the PID it should give me many more years of use!

MES 40 rebuild - back insulation replacement?

Maybe this would be better - https://www.amazon.com/SMILERACING-Constant-Temperature-Fireproof-Insulation/dp/B0BM3QN6NY/ Just have to cut to size and will only have about 10" x 24" leftover (It's about 24x38)

MES 40 rebuild - back insulation replacement?

Closest thing I could find at HomeDepot is this, but hoping to not spend as much! - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ceramic-Fiber-Insulation-Blanket-Roll-6-Density-2300-F-1in-x24in-x60in-for-Kilns-Ovens-Furnaces-Forges-Stoves-CF6-1-24X60in/305578021

MES 40 rebuild - back insulation replacement?

I'm rebuilding my MES 40 and basically only keeping the cabinet itself and the heating element. Using an Auber 1520 PID controller, an Auber circulation fan, and adding a rotisserie as well. The insulation on the back is mostly good but is uneven and bulged out in some spots so the back cover...

Add rotisserie to older Masterbuilt 40"

So I was thinking of getting one of the add on rotisserie kits designed for the later model MES smokers and making it work with mine. Cabela's has them for $24 right now. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/masterbuilt-rotisserie-kit Has anyone attempted such a surgery before? Seems like it would...

Can I use the Traeger pellets in an AMNPS maze?

Just found this post - https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/traeger-pellets-in-an-a-maze-n-smoker.156694/ so I guess the Traeger pellets will work just fine. Somehow did not find that in my previous search.

Can I use the Traeger pellets in an AMNPS maze?

I have an AMNPS 5x8 maze and want to know if I can use the Traeger pellets in it with no problem. Mostly just want to be sure they'll be able to smolder and smoke instead of just burning all the way through. I just got these because they were available at the grocery store and I want to smoke...

Interesting take on replacing Smoker controller - Commodore 64!

Ran across this article today at Hackaday https://hackaday.com/2020/07/27/smoking-meat-with-a-commodore-64/ Not sure it's something I would do but it is pretty interesting!

MES Element finally died - Brisket in the oven Time : (

Take your time doing the install. The heat shrink tubing they provided to cover the wire nuts is way too big, so I just used my own. Also for mine I had to make the holes a tad bigger for the screw posts. All in all it was pretty easy and I've already smoked a couple of times on it.

MES Element finally died - Brisket in the oven Time : (

Youtube figured it out for me - it goes on before you insert it, so it is in between the bracket and the wall. Made some country style pork ribs following this guys recipe - I used North TX BBQ Association Smoke Shake for the rub, and pineapple juice and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce for the...

MES Element finally died - Brisket in the oven Time : (

Finally got my 1200 watt upgrade kit yesterday. 10 days from ordering so not too bad. Had to make the holes a bit larger for the screw posts. The original was just screwed in with short sheet metal screws. Does the metal bracket have direct contact with the back metal wall or is that where the...

    My latest smoker build

No worries. Sometimes what I do is just email whatever picture to myself from the phone. If you're in your phone gallery looking at your pics, there should be a "share" option. For a Samsung phone, these instructions work - https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-97793/

MES Element finally died - Brisket in the oven Time : (

To be fair the Appliance Factory Parts site does say "Please allow 7 business days for you order to be shipped." I'm just spoiled by Amazon or being able to go to a local parts supplier and get what I need with a quickness. Low and slow shouldn't apply to parts! : )

MES Element finally died - Brisket in the oven Time : (

I did see an eBay seller with like a 4 day delivery time, but it looks like that comes without all the extras like the rubber shield and new connectors. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOBs-Heating-Element-Replacement-For-Masterbuilt-40-Electric-Smoker-1200-Watts/ I'm tempted to order one just to have...
