Food looks great and it's awesome finding cool things on trash day! We found an abandoned gas grill last weekend when camping but not enough room on the truck bed to take it home.
I have the same grill and the two things I did is purchased a 10" cast iron skillet and used my own thermometer. Just stick it in the back damper and leave it there. I noticed whatever the smoker's temp display is, my thermometer is about 20 degrees higher.
I have only used chunks so far. Have...
I was planning on taking it camping this weekend too but some of the folks on here said that freezing the meat and reheating would be just as good. I feel like it'll be a lot of work out there especially since we hit the water often. Have fun and be safe!
Oh man! Wished I would have asked this question on Saturday. I would have smoked everything since I still had two rack available. I'll go ahead and vacuum seal and freeze it out. What's everyone's method for re-heating? I like to have the leftovers get to somewhat room temp and then either...
I smoked entirely too much food and that's actually only half of what I had. Was planning to smoke the other half Friday but I have lot of chicken and ribs left, plenty for leftovers tomorrow but don't plan on 3 days in a row. I've never done this but what's everyone's thoughts or experience on...
Due to the slanted legs I was able to just lay down on any sides including the back. Oddly it took a few attempts to fire up but that isn't a big issue. The grill is in the grill cover, no tarp needed.
It's a Masterbuilt 230s. I might see about transporting it upright but since there's nothing that seems to not support it laying down that might be an option as well. I'll mess around with it in the AM.
I plan on transporting the smoker to the in-laws tomorrow to smoke some meat. I don't want it upright since I don't feel like it'll be secure enough. Anyone have any issues or tried transporting on its side? I may place a tarp underneath and can't lay on the back due to the vent.
Man! I really wanted one of those Oklahoma Joe smoker and grill combo. One of my buddy has one and I grilled some dogs and burgers on it. I checked the price and that $499 scared me off. I would definitely get it while on sale but wife just purchased me a gas grill for father's day.
Welcome! I noticed you put a seal on yours. I have some smoking coming out the front doors but read some reviews that sometimes the seal burns off, let me know how yours hold up. Also, I bought a 10" cast iron pan and my wood doesn't flare up as bad compared to using the tray that comes with the...
My two favorite type of ribs are St. Louis and Babybacks. Now, I tried the mustard coating and then rub twice and it turned out okay but does anyone really notice a difference if let's say I smoke a rack of ribs of just rub and no mustard?
Interesting. This doesn't actually sit where the cast iron pan would. I would light a corner, let it burn for 10 minutes then blow it out and then set it next to the grate. At least that's what I see from some of the reviews. I'll probably go this route after I burn through all the chunks and...
