    LavaRock Minion Method Basket Review

This makes much more sense, wish that would have been explained before I bought it but oh well.

You are correct, it is LavaLock. My mistake.

    Bacon Wrapped Meatballs

Almost but not quite. You would need some coriander, celery seed, and probably some herbs like thyme, basil, oregano, etc.

    Bacon Wrapped Meatballs

That’s exactly what they are supposed to be! I wanted a little bit of sweet with a nutty finish And that’s exactly what I got.

    LavaRock Minion Method Basket Review

Some time ago I had purchased a LavaRock Minion Method Basket on the recommendation of some people here because I was having trouble with thick, grey smoke using the baskets I had made when I first got my smoker. I am using a Brinkmann Vertical Trailmaster w/side fire box. I can normally pull...

    Bacon Wrapped Meatballs

I got asked to do a smoked surprise meat for Thanksgiving by a friend. They wanted to do the meal early, we’re talking 11 am, so it had to be something fast. I settled on some bacon wrapped meatballs I had done in the past. Unfortunately, I have had a few speed bumps already. The last time I...

    Holiday Ribs

Second rack... cooked as two half racks. They look burnt but really aren’t. Camera will do that to you sometimes. The crust is a little over (a lot over if you are a competition cooker) but had great flavor. They were really tender, very flavorful, and had an amazing smoke ring. I will...

    Consistent TBS with charcoal

Interesting. Sounds like I might be building a new charcoal box soon

    Consistent TBS with charcoal

GMC are you saying that using a box configured like the Okie Joe box you linked to will reduce or eliminate the off gassing that occurs when adding cold charcoal to the hot firebox? I thought the primary purpose of the minion method was to control burn rate or am I mistaken?

    Holiday Ribs

So if a heavy sauce is to be used it’s better to wait until a few minutes before they come off smoker and then add or add right after pulling them?

    Holiday Ribs

Chris, I probably put it on way too soon and should have wrapped them after saucing them. Something to keep in mind for next time.

So the first rack is out. IT varied from 190-200 based on probing 4 places. The other rack was divided in half pre-cook due to size and was moved to the lower rack as IT was only 170-175 on each half.

    Consistent TBS with charcoal

I don’t have bad tasting food but simply trying to find ways to improve my craft and make better tasting food.

    Consistent TBS with charcoal

Sorta but not really. I’m separating my baskets with about a 2-3” gap. I’m not sure that would really address my issue on longer cooks though. The KB wants to off gas for about 15-20 minutes while warming up even before igniting producing the TGS.

What IT do you like to cook to?

    Consistent TBS with charcoal

This topic may have already been covered in great detail so I’ll apologize in advance if I am reposting a well covered question. I use a Brinkmann Vertical Trailmaster w/side fire box. I run two charcoal baskets and typically use Kingsford Blue. In order to cut out guesswork and extra work I...

    Holiday Ribs

Got some baby back ribs in the smoker. Using some Twisted Q Cane ‘N Maple rub with SBR BBQ sauce. Still trying to figure ribs out. Trying to cook at 250’ but struggling to keep temps below 300’ even with CyberQ controller due to 95’+ outside (I think). Any tips or suggestions are greatly...
