I am in VA and closest one is 1 hour drive. Been trying to sell BBQ ever other weekend if I can get some good prices. Please don't think am lazy but can't seem to get at least a ball park. Ty in advance!
I am getting ready to head to our church's chili cook off. I only had 3 lbs of brisket so I added a lb of ground venison and a lb of smoked pulled pork. The smoked pork was a bit overwhelming at first but after a few hours cooking it mellowed out to some amazing chili. Definitely the best I...
Thanks Dave. Will put that knowledge to work when I get a bigger one too. I can do a couple 10-12 lb turkeys at a time & love the flavor. Do you make soup with the carcase? The smoke flavor comes out nice for soup & I love to make turkey or chicken salad with bacon mayonnaise.
Dave I know you have been around here for a really long time & probably know about this already. I have read that the larger the bird the more you have to worry about smoking at low temps. It is my understanding that meat on larger birds might be in the "danger zone" temp wise for too long. Is...
I have a few cats & also manage a couple colonies & adopt out the kittens that show up. Cats seem to love smoked pork as much as they do seafood. I once had a kitten literally claw its way up my leg cause I had some bbq in my hands.

If you are anywhere near VA on the 19th of October let me know. We don't claim to be experts but will have a 60" Lang going for the weekend at a cabin in the mountains. Heck we won't even ask for a passport unless you are from New York city.
Good to know. I have been tossing my crappy $39 dollar Brinkman smoker grates on my iQue to burn off & brush & never had a problem with rust. I didn't leave em on for 30 minutes though. I guess sometimes I use good judgement.
Hi Alfie! One of my favorite places to visit in Canada is probably near you. Its a little town on the west coast of the BC island called Tofino. With all the great fishing there you will be having a good time with your smoker. Welcome!
I tasted all of the entries for the competition that I won this weekend. One of them had a petroleum taste that caused me & others to discard that meat. I asked the guy who made it & yes he used lighter fluid. I am not trying to be some BQ snob but I have a very good pallet & all of the food...
