I need a new knife set.

Welp its that time. Our current knife set has handles that have a rubber type coating thats starting to fall apart on a few knives. Thinking it might be time to just go ahead and get a new set. Figured I'd see what the A team recommends.... this post is now open to enablers....

    Whole chicken

The Mrs. asked for chicken. This is by far her favorite thing. Made my Fall brine : 2 cups Brown sugar 2 cups water 1½ cups apple juice 2 tbs minced garlic 2 tbs ground ginger 2 tbs seasoning salt 8-10 whole cloves 2 tbs frozen orange juice ⅛ Cup of salt ( I used to do about a ¼ cup, but have...

Felling more like fall. Time for chili.

Had a little bite in the air this morning, leaves are flying and football on the TV. Supposed to hit around 38⁰ tonight. There's only one thing left to do... make some chili. Finished up with church, and let it simmer for the day. It really hit the spot.

    Green chili & fry bread

Got home from church and started the chili. Peeled, chopped & added some diced pork. We decided to make some fry bread using Eric's @SmokinEdge recipe that he posted not long ago. Perfect Sunday meal & Eric's fry bread was fantastic. Thanks for sharing Eric 👍

Picked up a bushel of chili's today. Now I just need to find time to cook... these are mild Anaheims, since the wife and kids can't handle Pueblo's

    Gameday Ribs

Finally got a chance to throw something on the smoker. The family unanimously choose ribs. Not to long ago our neighbor up the road, got knocked off a hay truck and landed on his head and neck. They flew him out, but he is back home and ok. (Bad, but could have been much worse.) He is laid up in...

    Drums on the grill

Did some drums on the Weber Genesis, hit em with some Weber's kicking chicken & New Orleans cajun for some seasoning. And a Black Cherry Chipotle sauce from Kinders as a glaze. I wasn't sure about the sauce/glaze at first, but it proved to be pretty darn good on some chicken.

    New toy

Well, I did a thing. I bought another smoker. It had sat for a bit and needed a little TLC. I spend the last week getting it all cleaned up and ready to rock and roll. Finally got a chance to break er in. Did some Ribs, Chicken thighs and some Hot Italian sausage. That beast runs pretty...

    Donuts anyone...

My youngest son has been really into cooking for a bit now. For his own birthday party he made homemade chocolate donuts. His cousin has been making cookies that she sells and then donates the money to St. Jude Children's Hospital. She asked if he would make some donuts for a sell at the church...

Banana bread by an almost 7 year old

My youngest son has really been into cooking lately. Recently at a school event he got to dress up like a chef and now the chef's coat is all he wants to wear. Today he made some banana bread with a cream cheese frosting all on his own ( with a little supervision from Mom). He was so proud of...

    Frozen ribs

My youngest son has the flu, so I stayed home with him today. I got bored and got the itch to cook something but everything I had was frozen. I remembered reading a post from @SmokinAl about doing ribs from frozen. I had a rack from a pig we had butchered in the freezer. I figured no better...

    A little bread experiment

Been making a loaf or 2 of bread about every week for a bit now. Cheaper & better than store bread. Been thinking of ways to mix it up, without going overboard. Decided I'd try a little agave in my mix. Figured I'd share the recipe. This is super simple and nothing fancy. 675 g bread flour 1½...

    Moose brisket questions

My uncle has a buddy that just killed a moose this year. My uncle helped him process it, and got some meat out of the deal... including a brisket. He has been curious on how to cook it. So I figured I'd ask around. The couple things I read on the interweb pretty much said cook it like a beef...
