Yes, we tried it a day later and it was no better. Even my wife who wasn't around the smoker couldn't taste much.
We ran the stack mostly half open, sometimes a little more or little less to adjust temp. There aren't any good dampers on the firebox side at the moment, but the digital...
I have a feeling I will get some mixed answers with this one, but here goes.
I recently went with a friend to help him pick up a smoker that was custom built. The price was right, the build quality is good, and it was the size he needed for his small patio.
We did a test run on it and we were...
I've had a burn in and two cooks on my bronco so far. You are right, it leaks oil at the bolt holes but surprisingly it doesn't leak smoke. I am very impressed with how well it holds temps.
A word of advice though, use a hardwood briquette and not Kingsford blue bag. Please trust me
I'm afraid with lump I won't get the burn times I need though. I have a 8 lb charcoal basket and to access it I would need to take out the meat, grates, and diffuser plate. Not ideal
I have an offset that I love dearly, but I picked up this Bronco for the times I can't dedicate the time to the fire. I really don't want to go to an electric smoker. I will have to see if I can find B&B briquettes. I enjoy using B&B lump in my offset, but briquettes I heard work better in the drum
I like Kingsford for grilling burgers on the Weber, but for a low and slow I wasn't impressed.
I have heard that in the drums the briquettes are better because you get a longer and more even burn than lump. Maybe I'll have to try lump next.
In my offset I really like the B&B lump charcoal if...
Did up an 8.5 lb pork butt on the bronco today. Kingsford original charcoal and chunks of pecan. I got 9 hours on a full basket.
The flavor was definitely different than my offset, and I could definitely tell it was cooked with Kingsford charcoal. It has that distinct flavor. While it isn't...
Hello all! I placed an order for a Oklahoma Joe Bronco today! It was on sale for a little over $250.
I noticed some people complain the joint where the two buckets meet sometimes leaks. I have been considering using some red RTV silicone sealant made for fireplaces when assembling to seal the...
I am planning on going with a good friend on Saturday to pick up a used Yoder Cheyenne built about 2016. He was doing some research on the internet before we go and said this unit was made with 3/16" steel and had drafting problems.
Anyone have one of these and have any advice? I feel it's a...
Some coworkers sampled my pulled pork at work last week and asked if I would make them some. I'm happy with how these turned out.
Rubbed with meat church honey hog and smoked with cherry and hickory splits.
I've only been smoking a little over a year, and I have watched a lot of videos on techniques and tips but not a lot of people mention watching the drain.
Maybe it is common sense to most, but I never thought to regularly check if it's clogged or not. I always just let it do it's thing. I guess...
So I had the day off last Friday and decided to smoke 2 butts and a couple racks of ribs. Things were going great.
At about the 6 hour mark I went out side and there was thick white smoke coming out of the exhaust stack. I figured I had an air flow blockage in the fire box, but when I opened it...
I hadn't considered smoking in advance. I usually like ribs right off the smoker but i feel like pulled pork is usually better after sitting overnight in the juice.
And as far as portioning ribs, i feel like thats a tough decision. Some people eat 1-2, or theres people that cam eat almost half...
Hello all, last year I had a smallish, maybe 15 people, BBQ out at my parents land. I had smoked 2 pork shoulders and 2 racks of ribs, and my mom prepared a bunch of sides. Corn bread, beans, etc.
We are planning on doing a little larger gathering this year, maybe 30-40 people. Simple math...
I meant no offense. If you're happy with the results thats the most important part! We all have different cookers, fuel sources, taste buds, etc. What works for one guy may not work for the next.
Part of the fun is experimentation!

Those look tasty too.
I think its worth mentioning that I also didnt use a binder this time. I usually use yellow mustard before a rub.
This time it was ribs, rub, smoke, sauce, and time.
