Thought I woul give a little update .got my fb all welded up and mounted to the trailer ..I decided to insulate the firebox at the last minute ..so ir took a little more time than I thought ..I did lose a little more room for the firebox required size but I think it being insulated will make up...
So this is the stuff I bought ..it is pretty salty..do you think I should cut my salt by half and if I do really like it I'm wondering if there might be cheaper brand out there ..I see they sell shiitake powder in bulk .not sure if it's the same mixture as this stuff
Normally on my beef I just use s.p.o.g I'm thinking on my next cook skip the onion powder and garlic and go a little light on the salt and give the takii powder a try ..just kind of wondering why I never see it in bbq rub recipes..7nless they just list it as msg
So I figure I'm going to have to go with the longer firebox ..today i finished up building my gantry and I put the tank on the trailer to see how the height was ..I left the orginal feet on the tank which are 3 1/2" ..once I got the tank sitting on the trailer it seemed a bit tall...the bottom...
Tall firebox vs long firebox ...what are the advantages and disadvantages..I'm thinking a taller firebox would be better but I dont think the end of my drive will let me ..any opinion
So I got done with some progress this weekend ..after battling -55 degree temps ,2 feet of snow and a bad cold and a bum ankle I was able to get most of my trailer done (still have to wire it) this weekend ..I made a removable tongue (we have a lot of thief's in this town) that I thought...
It's going ok ..I've been battling a bad cold and now where getting hammered with snow up here in wi ..I'm kind of as far as I can go with the tank until I get my fire box going..so I started on the trailer last weekend ..I have a scrapper that I get some of my steel from and he hooked me up...
When you do your thighs do you chop and mix skins in with the your pulled chicken..I watched a show where the restaurant takes all the skins after smoking then crisps them up in the oven then chops and mixes
