Black Walnut? Is it any good?

I hadn't heard of anyone using it either, and if it leaves a bitter taste, then I will just trim the branches and put them in the fireplace later on. Thanks everyone!

One of my co-workers has a black walnut tree that needs trimming.  Is this safe for smoking and has anyone used it before? Thanks!

New Char Griller Duo Model 5050

I have the same thing with the SFB.  You will love it once you get it modified.  I highly recomend the normal mods.  Extend the vent pipe to grate level, better thermometers, heat baffle and take some hi-temp silicone to all the holes and bolts.  I am adding some hi-temp fireplace rope to mine...

    Injecting pork butt

I have done it both ways, and honestly can't tell the difference... When I do inject them I use apple juice, melon liquor (sweet), dry rub and worchester (sp?) sauce. No specific amounts for each item, just depends on how it pours out. I may try coke or dr. pepper next time. Let us know what...

    Sunday Smoke for my brother

Not my first choice for this either, but I was wanting to try different woods to see what I liked.  I used one split of oak and one split of maple.  One of my co-workers neighbors has a maple coming down soon, so it will be set aside for a while to age.  There are some wild cherry trees that...

    Sunday Smoke for my brother

Well everything turned out great!  The meat had a really rich and deep smoke flavor to it.  I think most of the wood I used was Oak. The smoke ring was intense and it all stayed moist.  I'm finishing the last of the leftovers today at work. Thanks for looking!

    SFB ?

I have one and I really like it.  I started with an MES 30.  You will have to get something to hold your charcoal because it wont do well without it.  My ash drawer doesn't shut tight so I had to add some tinfoil to close it up this past weekend.  I purchased some heavy duty stove rope so I can...

    Questions about tenderness?

I did my second pork butt on the Chargriller duo pro w/ sfb.  The last one I did I thawed and smoked as usual.  It tured out perfect. today I used one that I bought from the same local butcher on Friday. I smoked it close to 225 on royal oak lump until it reached 190 and then I pulled it to...
