...to reduce that to about 5-10,000 BTU's..
Your chip pan will NOT work at that temp... You will need a smoke generator... I recommend the AMNTS... It works well with propane smokers... AND Todd's pellets are the best, IMO...
To restrict the BTU's of your smoker do something similar...
I'm a stick and charcoal guy, but do use a amnts (knockoff) to add smoke flavors that I don't have in my firewood stock.
Buddies with pellet poopers have been hard selling me to get one. I've avoided, but after a lot of thought, I'm thinking one might be a good add.
Wife doesn't like a lot of...
Yeah, The Tube is much easier to keep going. Only trouble I had when I tried it was I couldn't get it to smoke light enough. No matter what I did the Smoke was too Heavy. I like a lot of smoke flavor, but light smoke for a long time---Not all at once!!
Hang in there, You'll get it right.

Here's a couple pics of one of my AMNTS with it's support stand. I found that lifting the tube off the floor of the mailbox helps airflow.
Here is one of my stands holding a newer oval shaped tubes. Don't really think the shape of the tube will make much difference.......
Interesting, Kurt !!
Thanks for the Info, and Good Points.
However the one part does me no good. I don't do FaceBook, or any of that kind of BS. I'm Strictly SMF & Email.

I figured there would be limited airflow with the chiploader port screw-cap on. The idea I had was to cut the chip dispensor tray off and replace it with a kind of prong that sticks into the tube holes and allows it to pivot open side up when it isn't in the smoker.
That way you could light it...
...need to really pack it in tight with a metal rod of some kind. I use a short piece of 3/8" rebar.

You will get a very thin blue smoke with dust in the tube which is what you want when...
I am not too familiar with your specific smokers there but as long as you keep your temps down this should work. I've seen people cold smoke in cardboard boxes by themselves! Check out the AMNPS or AMNTS. Might save you a lot of hassle rigging stuff up!
...barrier around the bottom to protect the flame
- Used a cast iron skillet for the chunks ( Still caught fire)
My question is about adding the AMNTS. There are a few threads where guys have simply places them at the bottom and have had great TBS results. Then I've seen that creosote may be an...
Thanks for the advice. I have one of the A-MAZE-N TUBE AMNTS, but did not use it this time. I first want to set a baseline of the taste, and then add smoke until it is enough. Reheating smoked meat the next day normally gives me an indication if I had too much smoke.
Do you have any suggestion...
...smoke and more bark for pulled pork...
Here's two butts I split.... in the smoker.... They are sitting on Todd's Q-Matz.... Todd is a long time member here and a great, friendly person.... He developed the AMNPS and AMNTS etc... and sells them also.....

That's how in the past I got to Todd and the AMNPS pellet tray, AMNTS tube and pellets with A-maze-n Products and Vacuumsealersunlimited.com for the Ultra rolls with Lisa by visual ads. Currently it's word of mouth but outta sight outta mind. After the tray is purchased then you only need the...
Good timing, I just lit my AMNTS tube and shut the door on my mailbox. I'm curious how yours will work. Do report back. Most people put the exhaust tube on the back near the top where it's nice and flat to cut a hole. If yours doesn't leak too much from the top vent, it seems like it should...
...over 180, you need a supplemental Smoke Generator. The least expensive, high quality, an no modification needed, unit is the A-MAZE-N TUBE AMNTS. Load it with any flavor 100% Smoke wood pellets, light it, per instructions, and it will generate multiple hours of Thin Blue Smoke at virtually...
...seasoning and cajun seasoning for spices.
Homemade stuffing with ground beef, pork, chourico and locally grown apples.Last time we put apple wedges on top this time diced and mixed in.
Will post after smoke pics too!
Done in the MES using ground PB charcoal blend pellets in the Amnts.
OK, I have been saving for just over a year, and I am going to buy a pellet pooper in April. I currently use Lumberjack pellets in with AMNTS & AMNPS with my fridge smoker. I live in Oregon and the humidity today is 87% which is normal for 8-9 months of the year. I store the 20 lbs bags in...
...rosemary,dill and mint from the garden, light spog on the outside.Ready by end of race is the plan!
Airfryer wings as a snack.Sauce is "stormin norman" smoked peach and scotch bonnet sauce.
All smoked in the MES with AMNTS filled with PB charcoal blend pellets.
Will also post post smoke pics!
Right there is your problem. You're probably at about 6,000 or 8,000 feet elevation.
The AMNPS Tray doesn't work at that altitude.
That altitude forced Todd to invent the AMNTS Tube Smoker for High Altitudes & larger Smokers. You'll have great success with the Tube Smoker.

...and making the Mes a better oven than the one in the kitchen. Not as many folks on SMF are generating smoke as the .Mes is intended with Amnps/Amnts compared to other Mes pages so lots more smoke generating complaints on other pages. Lots of people into their 3rd Mes because they throw them...
