About to try smoking an 8 pound rack of baby backs with my Napoleon gas grill and AMNTS!

...back in the summer to smoke up at the lake this weekend, but now I’m stuck working (from home thankfully) with only my Napoleon gas grill and AMNTS to cook this rack with. I had a similar situation in the summer with a pork butt and I got really good results by first sous vide-ing the...

    partially burnt pellets in A-Maze-N

When it comes to the AMNTS I reuse everything that is not fully burnt. Been using the u-bolt mod with tube for quite some time now.And with inspiration from fellow member chopsaw I've been using crushed (not dust) pellets in the tube with incredible success.I've found adding my remains both...

I have the AMNTS Oval...have not decided if I'm going to run an external pipe or leave it in the smoke chamber though. Still undecided and doing trial...

...in it around 170. Marinaded pork for 24 hrs. Rinsed off. Then put on racks in frig overnight. Plan on 180 for first hr. Drop to 160 an put AMNTS in for 1 hr smoke. Start checking at the 3 hr mark. Take it to the point of flexible but not brittle. Should have no trouble with low temps with...

First smoking in my new Gen 1 MES 40.

Menards has these $2.98 butane torches that lock on and has a flip out stand and a bottle opener. I'm just going to store it in my Amnts since I travel with it.

    First pork loin jerky

B, You need air to keep your AMNTS going, does that smoker have a bottom vent? MY smoker runs my AMNPS fine with both top and bottom vents open. IMHO I would keep my starting temp lower than 180 and then watch your temp as the tube is giving off heat also.

    Propane smoker results underwhelming

In my experience soaked wood doesn't actually smoke at all until the wood dries out enough to burn, and even then the parts that are still wet make the burning parts produce bitter smoke. So while the wood "lasts longer", the smoke that is produced is not as good as good old hot burning, dry...

    Yesterday's brisket

Been doing some experimenting with crushed pellets and the AMNTS. This is by far the best brisket I've done in the MES.Nothing more than a little of Jeff's rub overnight in the fridge and then into the smoker at 6am. Beyond tender and the most beautiful mild smoke flavor. Btw used crushed...

    Newbie fro Arizona

Hi ScottL! Welcome to Truth be told, there are a LOT of Pellet burners here, a lot burn pellets in AMNPS trays, or AMNTS tubes. As well as the Pellet Poopers like the Treagers and variants like yours. The bottom line is, we love smokey taste goodness in our Brontosaurus bones.

About to try smoking an 8 pound rack of baby backs with my Napoleon gas grill and AMNTS!

It should work fine. Just make sure you find a good spot for the AMNTS (so it stays lit). I've smoked using a similar setup....with good results. You called this cold?

...were still weeping water through the casings. So I bumped the heat up to ~120* for another 2 hours. Finally got them somewhat dry. I lit the AMNTS smoke generator and have them cold smoking with pecan dust now for the last 4 hours or so... You can see the sheen on the links... Trying out...
